Frequently asked questions

How Does The Flip Pick System Work?

Flip Pick uses a comfortable finger strap that fits around your index finger and holds an interchangeable guitar pick in place. The system allows you to keep your pick attached to your hand so you can quickly transition between fingerstyle playing and strumming without fumbling for or dropping a traditional pick.

Is there a learning curve?

Yes — like any new playing tool, Flip Pick may take a little adjustment at first. Most players spend a short period experimenting with positioning and pick angle to find what feels most natural for their playing style. Once dialed in, many players find the transition between fingerpicking and flatpicking becomes much smoother and more intuitive.

Can I still articulate naturally?

Absolutely. Flip Pick was specifically designed to preserve natural articulation and playing feel while improving pick retention and transitions between techniques. The flexible strap and interchangeable pick system allow players to maintain dynamic control while adapting the system to their personal playing style.

Which gauge should I use?

That depends on your playing style and personal preference.

  • Thin picks are more flexible and often preferred for lighter strumming and acoustic rhythm playing.
  • Medium picks offer a balanced feel for both strumming and picking.
  • Heavy picks provide more precision, control, and articulation for lead playing and aggressive attack.

Our Starter Pack includes all three gauges so you can experiment and find what works best for you.

Is it adjustable?

Yes. The Flip Pick finger strap is flexible and designed to fit a wide range of finger sizes comfortably. Players can also adjust pick positioning and angle slightly to customize the feel and playing experience.

Is this good for arthritis?

Many players dealing with grip fatigue, arthritis, reduced dexterity, or hand discomfort have told us Flip Pick helps them play more comfortably and confidently because the system reduces the need to constantly grip and reposition a traditional pick.

That said, Flip Pick is not a medical device, and every player’s experience will be different.

Can I use it for bass?

Bass players do use Flip Pick Heavy picks, particularly for pick-style bass playing and quick transitions between fingerstyle and picking techniques.

Can I fingerpick normally?

Yes. One of the core goals behind Flip Pick was allowing players to move naturally between fingerstyle playing and pick playing. When flipped out of position, the pick stays attached to your hand while allowing you to fingerpick more naturally than with a traditional loose pick.
